Rockcastle County schools to receive $6 million for student mental health services

Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman traveled to Rockcastle County Friday with good news: 6 million dollars over the next five years for mental health services for more than 16-thousand students. The program will be administered by the Southeast South-Central Educational Cooperative. Coleman, a former teacher, was joined by students and local educators and said she applauded the U.S. Department of Education for the funding. Rockcastle County’s schools’ superintendent said coming out of the pandemic, addressing and supporting the mental health needs of students is a top priority.
