Organisers of a new music festival that delighted Geordies when it brought Oasis legend Noel Gallagher to Newcastle have hinted that the event will make a welcome return to the city.
Rock N Roll Circus entertained 20,000 people with music and circus performances when it was held for the first time on Newcastle's Town Moor. The two-day event, which took place on June 9 and June 11, saw indie icons Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Charlatans, The Libertines and DMA's perform on the huge stage.
Newcastle-born singer Andrew Cushin, 22, who signed a record deal with the Strap Originals label owned by Libertines' Pete Doherty, joined the star-studded line-up. Crowds were also blown away by circus acts including acrobats, fire performers, and a pair of aerial artists who performed inside the Big Top.
Now, those behind the new event have celebrated its success in Newcastle as they look to bring it back to the city one again.
Andy Smith, event promoter from music company Futuresound, said: "There is nothing like the Rock N Roll Circus on the market. The combination of incredible musicians alongside top circus performers was a set up that felt unique and has been received very well by the fans.
"I think prior to the event people weren’t sure what the circus element would be and it's been a real positive takeaway that people have enjoyed that element so much, as well as seeing their favourite artists.
"The nature of the event is focused on it touring cities across the UK. We have had a fantastic reception from the people of the North East so we hope to bring it back sometime soon.
"We are looking ahead to 2023, building on the success of Newcastle and identifying the cities we take it to next year. There are always ways for us to bring more spectacle so we will be thinking of some more interesting new ideas!"
