Rocco Vata Celtic exit talk addressed by Postecoglou with Callum McGregor example after 'valuation'

Ange Postecoglou insists there will always be a pathway for youngsters at Celtic amid reported interest in Rocco Vata.

Reports in Italy have suggested a 'valuation' of £2 million has been placed on the 17-year-old winger with Juventus, Roma and Manchester City all keen on him after showing his promising in the Parkhead academy. The Hoops have lost talents like Ben Doak to clubs in England and further afield in the recent past but Postecoglou points to club captain Callum McGregor, winger James Forrest and right-back Anthony Ralston as example to what can be achieved by staying in Glasgow.

When asked about Vata and what Celtic can do to get youngsters into the first team, the Australian replied: "It is about having a strategy in place. With the 'B' team, we are really happy with the progress of a number of players. Stephen McManus and Darren O'Dea are doing a great job.

"I am closely linked to them and I follow their progress. All that we can do is provide that pathway. I know we've lost a few but we have Anthony Ralston, Callum McGregor and James Forrest.

"They are living, breathing examples of if you stay at this football club, you can still have a pretty good career. It's not like we don't have a formula.

"You deal with every case individually and this year we have closely aligned the 'B' team with the first-team. I see them everyday and I am aware of the progress they are all making."
