Commuters were left stunned when a robot dog made an appearance on the Metro.
The robot, which has been named Bernard, turned heads as it trotted down to catch a train at the University station in Sunderland. It was the computerised canine’s first ever outing on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
Bernard was built by Boston Dynamics in the USA and is one of the most advanced canine robots in development. Metro’s operator Nexus said it was probably its first ever robot customer on the system.
