The interruption matters because it puts a spotlight, once again, on how Roblox — a platform built largely around a young user base — handles child safety concerns, at a moment when the company is trying to project confidence to the developers who build inside its ecosystem.
A Protest Interrupts RDC26
RDC26 ran from September 10 to 12, 2026 in San Jose, California, according to Readdork, with Roblox's own developer forum confirming the event was underway that week, though the forum's recap makes no mention of the incident. It was on the second day of the conference, during Baszucki's keynote address, that Emathiio made his move, according to Dexerto.
Security intercepted him within seconds, tackled him to the ground and escorted him out of the building. None of the outlets that reviewed the viral clip of the moment reported that Emathiio was arrested or formally charged with anything — only that he was physically removed from the venue.

Baszucki's reaction once he retook the microphone was reported by Kotaku who quoted him saying, "Thank you so much for being here. We all get a little excited." He brushed past the moment and continued his presentation without pausing the keynote.
Emathiio Explains Himself
Emathiio didn't stay quiet after being ejected. He confirmed the incident himself hours later on X, writing simply: "just got kicked out #rdc26 💔"

The same day, he uploaded a longer explanation to YouTube, framing the stunt as a deliberate protest rather than a bid for attention. "Every single slow year of progress is just another year where children are actually affected," he said in the video.
He also pushed back directly on critics accusing him of "clout chasing." Emathiio said in the video: "Everybody's saying they don't want AI... Everybody wants better child safety," adding, "Y'all can call it clout chasing if y'all want." The upload followed a video he posted the day before the keynote, titled "roblox is completely unfixable," according to Dexerto.
Roblox Hasn't Responded — and This Isn't the First Controversy
As of publication, Roblox has not issued a formal statement addressing the protest beyond Baszucki's brief onstage remark. PC Gamer said it reached out to Roblox for comment and had not received a response by the time of its report.
The T-shirt's message lands against a backdrop of prior criticism of how Baszucki talks about child safety on the platform. In a December 2025 appearance on the New York Times podcast "Hard Fork," Baszucki was asked about predators using Roblox and responded, "We think of it not necessarily as a problem, but as an opportunity," according to GamesBeat. The framing drew a sharp response from Alexandra Walsh, a litigation attorney at Anapol Weiss, who told GamesBeat: "The first thing out of his mouth is like, 'Well, I see it as a challenge and an opportunity.' I mean, to not have taken a moment, just a moment, to acknowledge — any sensitivity to suffering."
At the time of that interview, Roblox pointed to 145 new safety initiatives rolled out since January 2025 and facial age-estimation technology introduced that December, according to GamesBeat. Whether those measures have expanded or changed since then wasn't addressed in any of the reporting on the RDC26 incident.
