Robertson celebrates in style on reaching semi-finals

Neil Robertson has celebrated in style on reaching the semi-finals of the Tour Championship in Manchester.

The left-handed Thunder from Down Under thwarted a spirited fightback from Englishman Barry Hawkins to win their quarter-final 10-8 to advance in Manchester.

Hawkins launched a comeback after trailing 5-3 when their tie resumed on Thursday. With breaks of 98 and 58, Hawkins took the next four frames.

Not to be outdone, Robertson dug in to win five of the next six frames with two 75 breaks and finishing with a half-century, to set up a meeting with world No.1 Judd Trump.

The Australian snooker ace, the only two-time winner of the tournament in the field, toasted his victory with a golf swing immediately after.

In the late session, world champion Zhao Xintong closed out a 10-4 win over Chris Wakelin.

Zhao resumed 5-3 ahead and pushed on towards a convincing win, making a break of 134 in the 11th frame which was followed by two further centuries.

On the other table, John Higgins came through a close contest with Mark Selby to secure a hard-earned 10-8 win.

Selby found himself 5-3 down after the afternoon session but reeled off five straight frames, with breaks of 127 and 131.

Higgins, though, regrouped with his own fine run of five half-centuries to book a semi-final place against Zhao.
