Roberto Firmino returns to squad as Liverpool team named for Aston Villa

Roberto Firmino and James Milner start on the substitutes' bench as Jurgen Klopp names an unchanged Liverpool team against Aston Villa.

Firmino returns to the squad having missed the last six games with a muscle injury and the Brazilian is expected to be treated to a hero's welcome as he takes part in the final home game of a glittering eight-year career with the Reds.

The same applies to Milner, who is also set to leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent. The vice-captain will be involved in his 331st Liverpool game if he is brought off the bench this afternoon.

Curtis Jones, who scored twice in Monday's 3-0 win over Leicester City, is named in midfield alongside Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson, with Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to reprise his more central role once more.

The No.66 will start in a back four alongside Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson. Up top, Mohamed Salah starts on the right of the front three with Cody Gakpo leading the line and Luis Diaz picked on the left side of the attack.

Darwin Nunez remains absent with a toe injury while Naby Keita is out injured for what is also his last Anfield appearance as a Reds player today. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also misses out.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Carvalho, Matip.
