Just two months shy of fashion being shaken by Roberto Cavalli's unexpected death, his eponymous brand is still pushing the industry forward and keeping his legacy alive with its Summer 2024 capsule. Entitled "Ray of Gold," Creative Director Fausto Puglisi reinterpreted an archival print conceptualized by the label's founder who reproduced the image of a sunbeam on his golden art deco lighter. "It was a sunny day when Roberto Cavalli sat at a cafe, cigar in one hand and camera in the other," the brand describes.
Once introduced to the world as a light dress featuring vivid rays and butterfly-shaped sleeves in the brand's Spring 2007 collection, the print has evolved into one of the label's most iconic prints consistently seen in ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. It's been famously worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2022 Diamond Gala and most recently, Teyana Taylor at this year's Cannes International Film Festival.
Puglisi is following suit with a capsule comprised of ready-to-wear dresses, accessories and beachwear for both men and women. From flowy maxi dresses and one-piece swimsuits to pants and jewelry that evoke the power of 70s style, the collection is full of essentials you'll want to wear to every summer gathering. The menswear pieces are far from lacking thanks to flank bowling shirts with versatile sleeves, pants and shorts. The design is also depicted on the mirrored lenses of glasses in Cavalli's eyewear line produced by De Rigo.
