Roberto Carlos praises Man United midfielders as Donny van de Beek's former speaks out

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines on Thursday, September 29.

Roberto Carlos gives Fred and Casemiro ultimate compliment

Roberto Carlos has named Manchester United's Fred and Casemiro as the Brazilian players he would have liked to play alongside.

Fred and Casemiro were both selected to represent Brazil during the international break. Casemiro started in both of Brazil's matches against Ghana and Tunisia, while Fred was given his only start alongside his club teammate against the latter opponent. Brazil won both of those matches and they are among the favourites to win the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which is a tournament that Fred and Casemiro are expected to feature in, despite not playing regularly under Erik ten Hag this season.

Casemiro was expected to go straight into the starting line up after signing from Real Madrid this summer, but Ten Hag has discussed a period of adaptation for the midfielder and his arrival seems to have brought out the best in Scott McTominay.

Although Casemiro is yet to start a Premier League match - that is expected to change this month - and Fred has been handed just two league starts, the legendary Carlos has given the United midfielders the ultimate compliment.

Donny van de Beek's ex-agent slams 'disappointing' Man United

Donny van de Beek's former agent has criticised Manchester United and Paul Pogba in an extraordinary interview.

Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought Van de Beek to the club, he provided the midfielder with limited opportunities during his time in charge and Van de Beek eventually joined Everton on loan in January last season in search of regular first-team minutes.

Van de Beek wanted to leave United on loan last summer, but he was given assurances over game time and they weren't kept by Solskjaer. The player then parted ways with his agent Guido Albers in October in a bid to organise a January move.

Although the Dutchman got his wish when joining Everton in January, that spell at Goodison Park was underwhelming and he's since returned to Manchester. Van de Beek has played just 19 minutes this season and he remains a peripheral squad figure. Now Albers has opened up about his former client's experience at United.
