Motherwell have handed new boss Stevie Hammell additional cash to tempt Robert Snodgrass and chase multiple further targets ahead of the transfer deadline.
The Steelmen have already sent a proposal to the 34-year-old free agent and are also interested in making three or four more signings before the window closes. Snodgrass met Hammell and officials from Fir Park earlier this week and they put a one-year contract on the table before he returned to England to consider his next move. The highly-experienced Scotland cap, formerly of West Ham United and Leeds among others, has been without a club since snubbing an offer to remain at Luton Town on reduced terms.
Hammell is facing a busy end to the summer and has already recruited former Well academy graduate Stuart McKinstry on-loan from Leeds. He worked with the younger winger when he came through the Fir Park youth ranks and has brought him back north.
The Motherwell boss is also looking to bring in another striker before the close of the window and a full-back is also on his wish list. Another wide option could also come into play if Snodgrass decides that his future remains away from Fir Park. Motherwell could also move some of their own fringe players on before the close of the window.
