The Jets were busy adding weapons for quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason, including former Packers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb along with former Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman.
Along with reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, the Jets have quite a stable at the position — even with trading Elijah Moore to Cleveland and the status of Corey Davis up in the air.
Still, there were some rumblings that maybe the Jets would go after recently released wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Head coach Robert Saleh seemed to pour cold water on that notion this week.
“We love our current group,” Saleh said. “I know there was some stuff with Odell [Beckham Jr.], but other than that we love our group.”
In a way, it’s hard not to love the group, especially with Rodgers throwing them the football. Garrett Wilson had over 1,100 receiving yards with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White throwing the football. Imagine what he can get with Rodgers.
Rodgers and Lazard formed a strong connection in Green Bay and Cobb and Rodgers are two peas in a pod. For the first time in a while, there’s excitement brewing with the Jets’ offense. Sure, Hopkins would be a major addition, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he signs elsewhere — unless he signs with New England. Regardless, this is a fun group that is ready to put on a show.
