The San Francisco 49ers have rehired Robert Saleh as their defensive coordinator for a second stint, following his recent departure as head coach of the New York Jets. Saleh, who was a sought-after candidate for head coaching positions with several other NFL teams, ultimately decided to return to the 49ers to help revamp their defense.
This move comes after the 49ers experienced turnover at the defensive coordinator position for the fourth consecutive season. Saleh's initial tenure with the team saw some struggles in the early years, but the defense saw significant improvement after the implementation of the 'wide nine' scheme and the emergence of players like Nick Bosa.
