Jets head coach Robert Saleh made major headlines Monday by saying he was “keeping receipts” of those mocking the team. Wednesday, he addressed that statement, saying it was a “passionate moment defending our team.”
Saleh said there weren’t any shots directed at anyone. Just “showing a lot of conviction in this locker room and what I know we’re doing in this building and the type of players we have.”
Saleh said he appreciates the recent history of the Jets and understands how the team has been for the last 11 years, but that this team is different.
“This is not the same old Jets,” Saleh said. “But until we win, until we prove it, the shots will keep coming.”

Saleh said this was also a lesson for him on understanding he can’t control anything in the outside world.
“That’s probably the emotional part that got me on Monday,” Saleh said, courtesy of Andy Vasquez of NJ.com. “It’s just a lesson in, you can’t control the outside noise. And you can’t brainwash everyone or whatever it is – you can’t convince people of what you see. They have to go see it, because they’re not here. We have to go prove it on the football field. And my commitment and this team’s commitment to this entire fan base is that we’re going to go do it and that’s kind of what led to that frustration.”
Saleh also poked fun at Peyton Manning, who poked fun at the Jets during the ManningCast on Monday night. “Peyton, I’m taking your receipt.”
