DALLAS — Fans of Robert Redford can celebrate. The renowned actor is coming to town for a one-night-only event presented by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and EarthX, a Dallas-based environmental organization.
Redford will narrate a multimedia performance called "The Way of the Rain — Hope for Earth." Created and directed by artist Sibylle Szaggars Redford, who is married to Redford, it also incorporates orchestra, chorus, art and film, with music by composer Tim Janis and film by Floyd Thomas McBee.
Organizers say “the performance interprets nature’s powerful beauty while calling attention to the Earth’s vulnerability brought on by climate change.”
Originally scheduled for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020, the event was pushed back because of the pandemic.
“We are honored 'The Way of the Rain — Hope for Earth' will finally be presented to Dallas,” Szaggars Redford said in a prepared statement. “The future of Earth and our well-being lie in our hands.”
