Robert Pattinson set to return as Batman in sequel to hit film

Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman in a sequel to the hit film, it has been reported.

Pattinson became the latest actor to portray Gotham’s most famous inhabitant in The Batman film, which was released in UK cinemas in March this year.

With the film earning an impressive 85% score on film review site Rotten Tomatoes, the news will no doubt please fans of this incarnation of the iconic caped crusader.

The Batman was a big hit at the box office, grossing $750 million worldwide according to Deadline. And Warner Bros have teased that there’s more to come from Pattinson’s Batman, HullLive reports .

According to People Magazine, Warner Bros revealed the news that Pattinson will return in a second film at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Writer and director Matt Reeves attended the event on Tuesday and reportedly said he was “excited to jump back into this world for the next chapter".

The studio is remaining tight-lipped for the time being about what else fans can expect from the new film, and when it will arrive in cinemas.

Filming for the sequel could see Pattinson and his co-stars visit Glasgow, which doubled up as Gotham in the first movie.

Several locations around the city were used in the film, including a motorbike chase through Glasgow Necropolis and scenes around Glasgow Cathedral and Glasgow Royal infirmary.

Robert said at the time: "It's not at all surprising to me that Glasgow has become a sort of unofficial Gotham City.

"When you think of Gotham you think of a wonderfully Gothic city - and that's why Glasgow works so well".

The Batman follows Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne as he investigates hidden corruption in Gotham, where he encounters Zoe Kravitz’ Catwoman. It’s not yet confirmed whether Kravitz will reprise her role in the sequel.

Warner Bros also teased fans at CinemaCon with glimpses of other upcoming films from the studio, including Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and Wonka starring Timothee Chalamet.
