Rab Affleck returned to the Ayrshire coast last month to film the latest music video by Irvine band Culann.
The Gangs of New York and Still Game actor has starred in every Culann music video and was keen to join the rockers again this summer.
The music video for Culann's latest single 'Rovers' is inspired by lead singer PJ Kelly's favourite movie 'The Lighthouse' - a 2019 film starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Defoe about lighthouse keepers embroiled in psychological turmoil after being marooned by a destructive storm.
Rab and the musicians from Culann filmed the music video on the hottest day in August wearing sweltering jumpers and hats to capture the biting vibe of the storyline.
Singer PJ said: "We filmed the storyline part at Portencross, beyond the castle and harbour there is a walk which is quite wild and Jurassic looking.
"This part of Portencross has an intimidating cliff face and areas which were overgrown and wild.
"When it comes to filming in Ayrshire we were spoiled for choice of natural beauty spots.
"We filmed in fishermen's jumpers in 29C weather but it turned out great because the film is in black and white, you can see the sun glinting on the surface of the water as Rab is rowing a boat - so it worked out well.
"This is our sixth video and Rab has been in all of them and the video for Rovers has elements of all of our past videos - so loads of wee Easter eggs for fans to find out; It's a wee Culann multiverse.
"Rab is a local legend and 10 years ago we asked him to star in our first ever music video. My brother, who plays drums in the band, and I were a bit nervous and didn't know what he would say because Rab has been in some huge productions and worked with famous directors and big stars but he was just so happy to be part of it and chuffed to be asked.
"Rab is a great guy to know, so helpful and collaborative and we just didn't want to do any of our videos without him."
The band also got permission to film a firey scene at the ICI site.
Although The Lighthouse is a big influence for the video's aesthetic, the song is based on an Ayrshire myth.
PJ added: "Rovers is based on an old fable, 'Rovers Doom on the Carrick Shore'.
"The band have always been interested in myths and we found this story which is about the Viking who would raid the Ayrshire coast and the untimely demise of the captain and his nephew, known as the rovers. It's a really cool piece of writing and I'd encourage people to read it sometime.
"We've had the song for a while but the music video had a quick turnaround.
"We're really proud of the video and want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped including; Rab, Brian Blakeley who starred alongside Rab, and Stuart Alexander who filmed and edited all the footage."
