Robert Irwin has spoken out for the first time since it was announced that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! would be moving to a brand new network in 2027.
Channel 7 revealed last week that the long-running reality show, which Robert hosted for three seasons alongside Julia Morris before it was axed by Channel 10 in May, will be entering a “brand-new era” next year with “fresh energy”.
While many fans assumed the Wildlife Warrior would be a part of the reboot, especially considering he is working with Seven to host the TV WEEK Logie Awards next month, it was confirmed on Sunday that he would be sticking with Channel 10 in 2027 as host of Australian Ninja Warrior alongside Beau Ryan and Georgie Tunny.

Robert has now addressed the network change with PEDESTRIAN.TV — describing it as both “surprising” and “exciting — and all but confirmed his time on I’m A Celebrity has come to an end.
“I definitely feel like this big change with I’m A Celeb, it makes you feel very reflective, honestly, and I just kind of look back with Julia,” he remarked.
“We’ve had a lot of conversations about what an awesome 12 seasons the show had, and what a great three seasons we got to spend together. We had the time of our lives. I learned so much from her, and it was just fantastic.”
Robert’s biggest request for I’m A Celebrity 2027
Despite only appearing on three seasons of the reality show, Robert definitely made his mark in the jungle. Not only did he bring a unique perspective thanks to his age and experience, but he also made an enormous impact on how the show respects the African wildlife.
“I think one of my proudest achievements was coming on board and saying, ‘Listen, I’m an animal conservationist. We can’t eat the African wildlife. We need to celebrate it, and we need to have that kind of conservation spin’. And they said, ‘Heck yeah, we’re on board, 100 per cent, let’s go for it’,” he recalled.
“As long as the show keeps up that legacy, then I will forever be a supporter of the show.”
Robert added that he ultimately “encourages the new direction the show is going in”, and he’s hopeful that everyone involved in the new era will “respect and appreciate the African wildlife”.
“Let’s not eat them, and let’s really make sure that we continue to make this a beautiful, fun, positive, uplifting show, because man, that’s exactly what it was for me. Just a life-changing experience,” he said.
