Steve Clarke has drafted in forgotten Rangers keeper Robbie McCrorie to his Scotland squad after Jon McLaughlin bowed out of action for the upcoming Nations League triple header.
McCrorie has made only two first team appearances for Rangers - a Europa League outing against Alashkert and an impressive derby performance in victory over Celtic with the Rangers squad decimated by Covid-19 cases last season. However, the 24-year-old has been given a chance to impress Steve Clarke with Rangers’ teammate McLaughlin missing through injury.
McCrorie has previously received the International call from Clarke while on loan at Livingston, but hasn’t been involved with the set-up in two years. He will now join Hearts stopper Craig Gordon and Motherwell’s Liam Kelly in the squad for the Ukraine double header and showdown with Ireland at Hampden. The move follows two more injury blows for Scotland, with Norwich star Grant Hanley and Stoke forward Jacob Brown also dropping out of the squad.
