Robbie Neilson admits Hearts transfer hope after RFS win banks Europa Conference League windfall

Robbie Neilson hopes banking more Europa Conference League cash will boost Hearts' January transfer kitty.

The Jambos are out of the competition after Fiorentina's win over Istanbul Basaksehir confirmed their progression to the knockout stage before Neilson 's side kicked off against RFS. But the Gorgie men stuck to their task and goals from Lawrence Shankland and Andy Halliday earned a money-spinning 2-1 victory at Tynecastle.

It's a win that will bank the club the best part of £500,000 - a timely boost considering the spate of injuries which have torn a hole in Neilson's squad. And although he admits the winter window remains some way off, he's keen to see that prize money re-invested into adding new recruits for the second half of the season. Asked about the cash windfall, the Hearts boss told BT Sport: "Yeah, we're delighted with it. Delighted coming into this campaign knowing any win is worth a lot of money for the club. We hope that then brings more finances for the January window but we've still got a long way to go."

Stephen Kingsley was subbed off with what appeared to be a hamstring issue in the second period as he chased down a pass from Barrie McKay to give Neilson yet another fitness headache to contend with. Hearts return to Premiership action on Sunday away at Ross County and the manager admits there could be a patchwork look about his team in Dingwall.

He continued: "We picked up another couple of injuries tonight which is disappointing. We'll be ready for Sunday but it'll be patched up a wee bit."
