Robbie Keane admits the decision to work with Sam Allardyce and return to Leeds United was a 'no brainer'. The former Whites striker was parachuted in as part of the ex-England boss' backroom team as the club's final roll of the dice in a bid to avoid relegation.
Keane netted 13 Premier League goals during a two-and-a-half year spell at Elland Road in a career which also included stints at Inter Milan, Liverpool, and Tottenham. The former striker's first steps into coaching came as a player-manager for three matches at ATK, and spells as part of the backroom teams at Middlesbrough and with the Republic of Ireland followed.
Keane confirmed his pre-existing 'connection' with Allardyce meant he had no hesitation accepting the opportunity to rejoin Leeds for the final four matches of the season. The 42-year-old also outlined how he was on the school run with his children when he received the emergency call.

Keane told BBC Sport West Yorkshire: "Sam rang me, I obviously know him personally. We did Soccer Aid many times together, he did the coaching sessions for Harry. We always had a connection, and he always said he'd like to bring me in at some stage.
"So when he called, for me it was a no-brainer. At nine o'clock, I went and dropped the kids off at school and came back and told my wife I was going to Leeds! I forgot to bring her a coffee as well.
Keane added: "I was delighted to get the call from Sam because I feel like I can make an impact."
