Shay Given paid tribute to his son Shayne on the occasion of his 18th birthday - and surprised his son with a series of messages from some of football's best-known stars.
Former Manchester City, Newcastle and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Given plied his trade in the Premier League for years - and quite clearly made plenty of friends in football circles along the way.
His son Shayne was born in Newcastle during the Donegal man's 12 year stint with the Magpies.
And there were messages from those connected with the high-flying Geordies as well as plenty more from further afield.
Given posted a six-minute video to his Instagram feed in which he appeared first to give the rest of the well-wishers an introduction.
He said: "Yes bro, happy 18th birthday!
"I can't believe its 18 years already, I'm very proud of you and all your achievements at school and getting stuck into the DJing stuff as well.
"Hope you have a great birthday and enjoy your presents."
Two former Newcastle strikers with extremely different tenures at the club featured as Alan Shearer and Michael Owen sent Shayne their best.
Shearer said: "Hey Shane, Alan Shearer here, happy 18th birthday, all the best - don't get too pissed. Cheers!"
While Owen had similar tidings: "Hi Shayne, it's Michael Owen here. I hear it's your big birthday today, you're 18th and you're a man so congrats and all the very best to you for the future."
Manchester City's Jack Grealish even instructed the young man to 'have a Jagerbomb' and 'get smashed'.
"Shayne, it's Jack here, I just want to wish you a massive happy 18th birthday mate," his message began.
"Hope you have a great day, enjoy it as much as you can with your family and friends.
"Hope you have a great night out, that's the main thing. I hope you have a Jagerbomb on me and I hope you get smashed with the old man!"
Everton manager Frank Lampard added his name to the list of birthday messages as he recalled happy memories with Shayne during his time at Derby County.
He said: "Frank here, just wanted to wish you a very happy 18th birthday mate.
"It doesn't feel like a long ago when you were a young boy in the office with us at the Rams and now you're obviously a young man turning 18 so happy birthday, go and enjoy a couple of beers with your dad or a few of your mates and have a great day."
Meanwhile, Robbie Keane joked that he was Shayne's favourite Irish footballer despite his dad's 134 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
He said: "Shayne, how are ya!
"It's your favourite Irish footballer of all time. Only joking.
"I hope you have a good one, I've known you since you were a little baby and to see you grow up to be the man you are now, you're a credit to your family. I look forward to seeing you soon and we can celebrate."
Patrice Evra diverted from his birthday message as he took into slagging off Given himself.
"Shayne Given, i just want to wish you a massive happy birthday," he began. "You are the real one because your dad thinks he has good jokes but he doesn't make me laugh.
"No, actually your dad makes me laugh so much but it's not about your dad it's about you. It's your day, so just hope you can have the best day of your life.
"Make sure you become a better person, better than your dad."
And laugh-a-minute pundit and ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards beamed into the camera as he sent a birthday wish.
He said: "Shayne, I just wanna wish you a happy birthday.
"You can legally drink now; dont get too excited. Happy birthday mate."
Further messages in a lengthy video came in from the likes of Paul Scholes, Stiliyan Petrov and Glen Johnson to make it an 18th birthday to remember for the former Irish stopper's son.
