Robbie Fowler gives 'banana skin' verdict ahead of Liverpool vs Leeds United

Former Liverpool and Leeds United striker Robbie Fowler has said that Leeds could be a 'potential banana skin' for the Reds ahead of their game this weekend.

Fowler played for both sides, with two stints at Anfield totalling 183 goals in 369 appearances while his shorter run of 32 games at Elland Road accounted for 14 of his total career tally.

Both teams have had poor starts to their seasons by their own standards, with the Whites in 18th after a terrible run of form has seen them consistently slide down the Premier League table.

Despite beating Manchester City two weeks ago, last weekend's 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest might've dampened Liverpool's spirits had a 3-0 win against Ajax not come in midweek.

Speaking to FairBettingSites, Fowler highlighted the fact that despite their recent form, Leeds might prove a bigger speedbump for Liverpool than many expect.

"Regardless of what people think of Leeds, teams raise their game when they come to Anfield. You can ask questions of why some teams can get a result against Liverpool but not against other teams, it’s because it’s their cup final.

"Liverpool beat Man City one week, the first loss City have had this season and Liverpool are nowhere near the top of the league. A week later, Liverpool get beaten by Forest.

"So Leeds can be a potential banana skin, we know they’re fighting for their lives, and the manager is not safe in his job in terms of what safe is deemed as in the Premier League.

"If Liverpool go play the way they can, then it will be a home win, but football has not been like that this year, especially with Liverpool, so they’ll do everything in their power to try to rectify that."
