Robbie Amell Addresses Viral Fan Theory About 'Life With Derek'

Robbie Amell addresses fan theories about Life With Derek.

Robbie Amell recently addressed a viral fan theory surrounding the Disney Channel show, Life With Derek. The show, which aired from 2005 to 2009, featured Ashley Leggat as Casey McDonald and Michael Seater as Derek Venturi, who became stepsiblings when their parents got married. Despite the innocent premise, fans speculated about underlying romantic tension between the characters.

In a recent interview, Robbie, who played Casey's boyfriend Max Miller on the show, laughed off the incest theory, clarifying that it was not part of the actual plot. He humorously mentioned that he, like many viewers, secretly hoped for Casey and Derek to end up together.

Reflecting on his experience on the show, Robbie fondly recalled his first table read and described himself as a naive 16-year-old landing his first major role. Since his time on Life With Derek, Robbie has built a successful career with roles in various TV shows and movies.

Life With Derek officially concluded in 2009, but the original cast reunited for the 2022 spinoff movie, Life With Luca. The film explores Casey and Derek's lives fifteen years later as parents to their own teenagers. Casey is depicted as a married lawyer with three children, while Derek is a single father.

The movie, produced by WildBrain, follows the characters as they navigate parenthood and unexpectedly reunite at their parents' new home in rural Ontario. Despite the fan theories, the movie confirms that Casey and Derek did not have children together, maintaining the original familial dynamic.
