A robber used a handwritten note to threaten staff at a bookmakers then pretended his arm was a shotgun so he could make off with just over £100.
Kenneth Brown, 56, demanded betting shop employees hand over cash or he would shoot them, then used the sleeve of his jacket to make it look like he had a weapon. The note, written on a betting shop slip and in capital letters, said: “GIVE ME THE MONEY OR I’ll BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF.”
After walking up to the counter looking like he wanted to place a bet, Brown then slid the note to the cashier and jabbed his jacket-covered hand towards the Perspex barrier to threaten her. Shocked staff withdrew £130 from the register and handed it over to Brown, who left the shop.
