A quick round of late February snow left almost 2 inches on the ground across parts of the Chicago area Saturday morning.
About 1.7 inches were measured at O’Hare Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
Similar amounts accumulated across the north and northwest suburbs, with lower totals to the south and southwest.
The sloppy weather system that hit Friday night made for slick roads overnight, but the snow won’t stick around for long, forecasters say.
Temperatures were expected to climb into the 40s on Saturday, top 50 on Sunday and stay that warm through the first half of the week with the start of meteorological spring.
Heavy rain is expected to soak the region Sunday night into Monday.
