Neath Port Talbot Council say they are hopeful a road-work scheme in the borough will still go ahead, despite the recent announcement of Welsh Government cuts.
It comes after the Welsh Government announced its Roads Review earlier this month, where some of the country's most high profile road building schemes were scrapped following a review of all projects in Wales.

The announcement by deputy minister Lee Waters will affect more than 50 road-building projects around the country, including plans for improvements to the M4 around Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot and Swansea, as well as plans for a third Menai bridge in north Wales.
However, despite a number of other road projects being scrapped, Neath Port Talbot Council say the Cymmer Carriageway Improvements project has now been listed as a "Local Authority Scheme."
This will mean it can qualify for future Welsh Government transport grant funding so long as it meets the new criteria in Wales for road building. Cllr Scott Jones said: "I’m delighted we have been given Local Authority Scheme status for the vital Cymmer Carriageway Improvements project.
"We now plan to proceed with essential resurfacing work which will ensure the critical road route linking the communities of Abercregan and Glyncorrwg with Cymmer and the rest of the county borough remains safe and serviceable. In the meantime, further detailed design and other work will carried out by the council on the preparation of the much needed Cymmer Carriageway Improvements scheme."
Work in Cymmer to resurface the hill and main access points will now begin on Maesteg Road on February 26, Avon Street on February 27, with further work also taking place on March 2 and March 5. You can read more of our stories from Neath Port Talbot here, or subscribe to our newsletter here.
