Road cordoned off as emergency services called to casualty in building

A road was cordoned off as Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to assist a casualty in a building.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called to scene on Valkyrie Road, Wallasey, shortly after 2pm over a person on the second floor of a building. Two fire engines, search and rescue teams and an aerial appliance were all at the scene and to rescue the casualty.

Merseyside Police also confirmed that officers were called to cordon the area off. North West Ambulance Service told the ECHO that an ambulance was present but no one was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service told the ECHO: "We were alerted at 2.07pm and on scene at 2.11pm.

"We assisted NWAS to reach a casualty on the second floor of a building with scaffolding using rope access gear. Merseyside Police was present to provide a cordon around the area. We left the scene at 3.49pm."

An NWAS spokesperson said: "We attended an incident on Valkyrie Road following a call at 13.58. We have not taken a patient to hospital."
