•Tube drivers’ pay will rise to nearly £80,000 a year after the RMT union accepted a three-year deal with Transport for London, following major strike action in September that shut down the network.
•The agreement includes inflation-linked pay rises, and “fatigue-friendly” shift patterns for Tube staff, while preventing further pay-related strikes for three years.
•RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey hailed the deal as proof of the effectiveness of strike action, and TfL said it provided a “fair, affordable” settlement for 16,500 Underground staff, with other unions expected to follow suit.
