What is about football stadia that we hold so dear to our heart?
They’re only bricks and mortar after all. But it’s also so much more than that. It’s where memories are made, where we make our regular pilgrimage at the weekend, where individuals come together as one homogenous mass to get behind a common goal.
The football ground plays a huge role in the local community, one that can often go unnoticed. It’s never truly felt until it’s gone.
For Nottingham Forest, the City Ground plays that role. It's been around forever, bore witness to a lot of incredible history, and hosted some amazing atmospheres over the years. State of the art it may not be, but, for Reds, it's home.
But then there are other grounds that leave a mark on us, stay in our hearts forever, or just make for an enjoyable trip. Homes to our footballing foes, but which spark warm feelings because of a brilliant victory there or a favourite incident, the culmination of a promotion success or huge cup upset.
What are your favourite and least favourite football grounds? We've got a survey at the bottom of this article.

"For me, Craven Cottage is the best stadium to visit," our resident Forest fanatic Matthew Davies says of his favourite away day, Fulham. "The old wooden seats, the riverside location (always a bonus) means it's got that character so few other grounds have."
He adds: "I also like Kenilworth Road, although it certainly lacks the charm of Craven Cottage. Other personal favourites would be White Hart Lane and of the more modern stadiums, The Emirates shows what modern facilities can do for a club if you're willing to part with history."
As for the bad ones? "When it comes to worst grounds, Reading lacks any soul or atmosphere and is definitely one to avoid," he says. "It's rubbish." Championship fans across the division who have been to the MadStad will agree, and the fact it has been renamed the Select Car Leasing Stadium doesn't help its cause.
Closer to home, Birmingham City's home ground evokes mixed feelings. "I have good memories of St Andrew's having seen Forest win there a few times, including on the way to promotion in 1998," Matt recalls fondly. "However, it is now in a state of disrepair with parts of the ground not even open this season. Fans deserve better."
