FORMER River City actor Iain Robertson is due to be sentenced on Thursday after being found guilty of raping one woman and assaulting others.

The actor, who previously starred in the Scottish TV soap, was convicted last month of a total of five offences against a number of women between 2004 and 2019.

The 45-year-old is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The rape occurred at a time between 2018 and 2019.

During the trial at the High Court in Glasgow, the woman told the court Robertson had sex with her despite her making clear she was not consenting, and described going “limp” when he was on top of her.

Giving evidence during the trial, Robertson said he was “no angel” but denied any wrongdoing.

He said he is “aware” of when a woman is consenting to sex, and that he is “sensitive” enough to know about non-verbal communication.

The jury found him guilty of rape, along with four other charges.
