Rita Ora has opened up about the "incredible rhythm" between herself and husband Taika Waititi and admitted she feels "really lucky" in the relationship.
The singer, 32, waxed lyrical over her Hollywood actor husband after the couple got married in 2022 after just over a year of dating. The pair look inseparable and just as joyous when they are snapped together despite both leading very busy lifestyles.
In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, Rita revealed that her and Taika were actually good friends for a lengthy period before their relationship to romantic and spoke about how they "really uplift each other".
The popstar said: "We just fell into this incredible rhythm, and there was no effort, and I felt really lucky because we were friends a long time before we decided to ruin everything to go to the next level.
"We really uplift each other as fire signs. There is so much presence in the room that it's understandable because we are very passionate people individually, so together, it really just goes.
"Instead of it being like no, no, it's actually like, oh my God, I get it; I'm the same. Oh my God, I get it too, and then it just gets bigger and becomes this massive flame."
New Zealand director Taika, who won an Oscar in 2020 for wartime comedy drama Jojo Rabbit, previously told how they met when Twilight actor Robert Pattinson brought Rita to his house.
He also echoed Rita's recent comments about the development of their relationship and how they "ruined" it by going official and eventually getting married.
Taika said: "We got to chatting and for the next three-and-a-half years we were just good mates. We were in different relationships, both of us. It was a good friendship and then we decided to ruin it.
"I love the fact that we both work hard, we’ve both got our own jobs and are independent and we’re best friends."
Last month, there was outrage after some of the biggest female names in pop, including Rita, were deemed "too old for listeners" of Radio 1.
Some of the stars who have had tracks left off the A, B and C rosters are Rita, Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, Shakira and Pink – who all fall outside the station’s target listener age of 15 to 29.
Rita saw her much-anticipated comeback single, You Only Love Me, fail to make the Radio 1 C playlist last month, despite her team meeting with bosses. The track went on to peak at No.57 in the charts before dropping out of the top 100 after just three weeks.
A spokesman for the BBC said: "Each track is considered for the playlist based on its musical merit and whether it is right for our target audience, with decisions made on a case-by-case basis."
