I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left less than impressed after Boy George sneakily ate an extra banana as Owen Warner told him off.
During Tuesday’s episode, viewers saw the immediate aftermath of Sue Cleaver’s departure as the campmates said goodbye to the beloved Corrie actress. It was then revealed that Sue had left behind a banana before exiting the jungle, and pop icon George decided to take it for himself to eat in private.
“I had a banana last night and then obviously Sue left this morning and there was an extra one, so I took it and I ate it and I hid the skin in my pocket so I wouldn’t get caught,” the Culture Club singer admitted to camera, before laughing.
Later, Jill Scott and Owen Warner noticed a discrepancy in the banana count and questioned Boy George.
“You had one last night and one this morning?” Scott asked the “Karma Chameleon” star. When he confirmed, Warner added: “Without asking?”
Boy George then laughed and responded: “Says the man who has had more food than anyone in this camp.”
"Could have asked first though," Owen replied, causing George to sing out a song in note of what he'd done, and seeming without a care.
"Last night the bananas we got for dessert we saved for breakfast this morning," Owen later explained of his anger. "There was nine. There’s one short. George confesses, he’s had Sue’s banana. Don’t steal food from me!”
The Hollyoaks actor, who has been vocal about his struggles with hunger while in the jungle, replied by saying that he could have asked first.
Viewers took to Twitter to rant about the tense scenes as they unfolded on screen. One wrote: "boy george laughing about stealing bananas as if he wouldn’t be raging and making a scene if anyone else did #imaceleb "
Another fan of the show added: “I would not like to live with George. So selfish and self-obsessed. Bet he’d pinch your food and never do the washing up. Then claim he deserves a medal!”
"Why am I actually so annoyed over boy George eating the banana. Why is it actually so disgusting the betrayal.???????? And he thought it was funny too ??? Nah people like that stay away from me," penned a third.
Although not everyone thought George was in the wrong for pinching the extra banana. One user said: "Boy George deserved the extra banana! Poor guy has had to eat 1 mushroom many nights, and burned rice!"
"Oooh #owen getting a bit threatening over @BoyGeorge eating the spare banana, when Owen tried to set him self up to win the tombola. Wind your neck in little unknown boy. George was munching on spare bananas before your dad was born #ImACeleb," penned another.
