Castlemilk boxer Lucas Ewan won gold after taking the 50kg title at the Western District Championships at Hampden Park last weekend.
Ewan, of Rutherglen’s Durie’s ABC, won the final at the national stadium’s Lomond Suite on Saturday against Blantyre Miners’ Welfare’s Callum Troy, who he also beat to take gold at the Scottish Novice Championships at Ravenscraig last month.
Coach Archie Durie said: “Lucas boxed in a similar fashion to the final at the Scottish Novice Championships, against the same opponent.
“He kept his shorter opponent at the end of his long left-hand jab, catching him with back hand tights to take his second gold medal.
“Five bouts he’s had to date, and this lad is going places.
“Lucas has just turned 12 and has a big future in boxing, of that I’m sure.
“He had three fights in the Western District Championships, stopping one lad in the second round and winning both other bouts by unanimous decision.”
