Prime Minister hopeful Rishi Sunak’s McDonald's eating habits have been called into question following his appearance on ITV’s This Morning on Thursday, August 18. Whilst chatting to hosts Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes he was questioned about what he usually gets at the fast food restaurant.
It was part of an interview which saw Sunak grilled by Andi after the Tory leader hopeful gushed to the former children's BBC presenter how he loved watching him host from the Broom Cupboard when he was growing up. You can red more on that here.
Andi said: “This is the question Rishi, what did you get at Maccy D’s?” as he showed Rishi a photo of him paying at a self-service checkout at McDonald's. The PM hopeful, 42, replied: "I was there at, I think around 7.45am in the morning so it was not a burger and nuggets. I got a bacon roll with ketchup and pancakes. If I’m with my daughters then we get the breakfast wrap. My eldest daughter gets the wrap. If I’m with her then that wrap with the hash brown is what we do." But social media users have doubted his claim.

One person commented on Twitter: “Rishi Sunak tells This Morning that if he goes to McDonald's with his daughters they all get the breakfast wrap... as a breakfast wrap aficionado I can confirm they were taken off the menu in March 2020 due to Covid, and in January it was confirmed they will never return!”
A second agreed and said: "Does Rishi Sunak ever stop lying? On #ThisMorning saying how he regularly goes into McDonald's with his kids to get the breakfast wrap & that he very in touch with the people... Er d******* they discontinued those back in 2020 along with the bagels. Like your not even trying..."
The McDonald's Breakfast Wrap was, indeed, taken off the menu in March 2020. Earlier this year, the food chain even went to the extent of saying that it wouldn't be return. The devastating news was revealed in the below tweet.
Sunak's appearance on This Morning comes after his chances to become the next Prime Minister have got slimmer, with competitor Liz Truss leading the polls. Despite this, the Tory MP said that he feels that he stands a good chance in winning.
This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.
