Rishi Sunak says 'absolute priority' is to tackle the economy as stinging tax rises for everyone in UK expected

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will set out a clear plan to "grip" inflation during his autumn statement tomorrow.

Mr Sunak attended the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, where he was joined by other world leaders. His words come after numerous economists and officials warned that Britain could face its longest-ever recession which would be worsened by skyrocketing inflation.

In a press conference at the G20, Mr Sunak said: “My absolute number one priority is making sure that we deal with the economic situation that we face at home. With more news of inflation today, it’s the number one thing that’s on people’s minds.
