”Big questions” remain over Suella Braverman’s return to Cabinet, a Tory MP has said amid calls for an inquiry into the home secretary’s reappointment.
Rishi Sunak has put Ms Braverman back in the same role just six days after she resigned over a security breach.
Caroline Nokes, a Tory MP, said she would like to see lingering questions over the reappointment “cleared up” so the home secretary could “get on with her job”.
“If that means a full inquiry then I think that’s the right thing to do,” she told the BBC.
Labour and the Liberal Democrats have also called for a probe into Ms Braverman’s shock return to the Home Office.
Nadhim Zahawi, the new Tory party chair, said the home secretary deserved a “second chance” this morning.
It came after his predecessor, Sir Jake Berry, claimed she had been involved in “multiple breaches” of the ministerial code last night.
