Rishi Sunak laughs with his hands in his pockets as he watches London immigration raid

Rishi Sunak was seen laughing with his hands in his pockets as he watched officers conduct an immigration visit this morning.

The Prime Minister, 43, is pictured smiling and looking relaxed during the operation in Harrow, northwest London.

He joined representatives from Home Office and Metropolitan Police and donned immigration enforcement uniform as he walked the streets and witnessed raids.

Met Police said it was present to ensure any breaches of the peace weren't committed in the operation led by the Home Office.

Photographers snapped Mr Sunak laughing as the raids were carried out.

The Prime Minister also dodged questions about the Privileges Committee report into whether Boris Johnson misled Parliament.

The report, which is expected to conclude that the former prime minister misled Parliament when he denied that lockdown rules were broken in Number 10, has since been released.

It showed Mr Johnson did mislead MPs when he denied lockdown-busting parties took place in Number 10.

Speaking before the paper was released, Mr Sunak said he could not comment on a report he had not seen.

Asked if he believed if Mr Johnson should be allowed to be an MP, the Prime Minister said: “You are talking about a report that I haven’t seen and that no one else has seen.

"It wouldn’t be right to comment on it in advance of it coming out and being published.”

He added: “These are matters for the House of Commons, and Parliament will deal with it in the way that it does.”

Mr Sunak was also asked if he was “frustrated” by Mr Johnson’s interventions in the past week.

“No, I’m just getting on with delivering for the country,” he said.

But Mr Johnson "must have known" he had broken Covid rules, the damning 30,000 report into Partygate is expected to find.

The shamed former PM repeatedly denied to Parliament there had been lockdown-busting gatherings in Downing Street.

Mr Johnson announced his resignation as an MP last week after being informed by the committee he faced being suspended from the Commons and a possible by-election in his Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency.

If it had not already quit, he would have faced a 90-day suspension from Parliament, recommended by MPs.
