Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has detailed what attributes Mason Mount will bring to Erik ten Hag's squad after his move to Old Trafford was confirmed.
The England international, 24, was at United's Carrington training base on Monday and Tuesday to undergo his medical and finalise his £60million move from Chelsea. The Reds reached a breakthrough in negotiations last Thursday, agreeing a deal worth £55m plus a further £5m in add-ons, and his move was officially confirmed on Wednesday morning.
Mount has become United's first signing of the summer and will strengthen a key area within Erik ten Hag's squad. The Dutchman had made it one of his primary objectives this summer to add to his crop of midfielders.
The Portsmouth-born midfield ace will bring a wide range of qualities and experience to Old Trafford, particularly for a player of his age. And Ferdinand has outlined what he will bring to the table.

"I think Mason Mount is a very good signing," Ferdinand told the Vibe with Five podcast. "He'll be a valuable member of the squad.
"He's a good player, a top player, I love the way he plays football. Every manager he has had - as a guide - has been nothing but positive about him, has loved having him, has been integral to everything that they've done.
"He had injuries last season so he tailed off a little bit in terms of numbers but the two seasons he did well at Chelsea they won the Champions League in one of them. Goals, assists, chances created, runs from deep into the box, always a goal threat, impacts games, decisive player, has to play.
"When he gets back to that... Last season I'd write off - more injuries than anything, loss of confidence maybe - but if you get the Mason Mount over them couple of years at Chelsea, you get that in a red shirt, delightful."
