Rio Ferdinand has already explained how new Manchester United assistant Steve McClaren will improve Harry Maguire's game next season.
Soon after Erik ten Hag was officially appointed as manager of United, the Dutchman appointed two new assistants at Old Trafford. Mitchell van der Gaag, the 52-year-old's right-hand man at Ajax, will be in the United dugout next term, as will McClaren.
The former England head coach spent time alongside Sir Alex Ferguson during his first spell at United and has recently compared Ten Hag to the United great.

Ferdinand is evidently a huge admirer of McClaren, and after Joao Felix scored a goal which he felt could have been avoided against United in the Champions League earlier this season, the former centre-back explained a trick McClaren taught him that could help Maguire.
He said on BT Sport back in February: "Steve McClaren, I can go through a list of coaches but he was on it a lot - getting your arm out, when you’re coming out and not allowing someone to get in that channel. Where Joao Felix runs into - if his arms are out he’s got a wider space to go around and he probably doesn’t get on the end of it.
"It’s small little details." United will be hoping McClaren will be able to introduce these marginal gains into Maguire's game when the players report back for pre-season.
