Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United will have had a better season than Arsenal if the Gunners fail to win the Premier League title this season.
Mikel Arteta's men currently sit four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the top-flight table, however, the Blues have a game in hand on the London outfit. Arsenal, who dropped points in their last two matches after drawing with Liverpool and West Ham, face City at the Etihad Stadium next week.
The Gunners will have just a one-point lead over the reigning champions if Pep Guardiola's side win their games in hand, with Arsenal now likely to need a result against the Blues when the two sides meet on April 26. Given how long Arteta's side have been at the top of the table, several pundits have suggested it would be a failure if they fail to go on and lift the trophy.

United, on the other hand, have already won the Carabao Cup this season are remain in contention for a top-three finish and Europa League and FA Cup glory. When discussing Arsenal and the Reds' respective campaigns, former defender Ferdinand claimed Erik ten Hag's men could end up with the better overall season.
"If Arsenal don't win the league and Man United finish third and just the one trophy they have had a better season," he said on Vibe with Five. "If you're a player, forget fans now, and you finish third and win a trophy, Carabao Cup whatever it is and the team above you finish second and win no trophies, who is the happier player?"
"The one who finished third."
Ferdinand did, however, go on to insist that he 'hopes Arsenal win' the league this season. The Gunners were knocked out of both the FA Cup and Europa League earlier this season, but they could still secure their first Premier League crown in nearly 20 years.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag's men could potentially end the campaign with three pieces of silverware, which would undoubtedly be viewed as a magnificent debut season for the Dutchman.
