Rio Ferdinand doubles down on Charlie Patino verdict amid Arsenal star's Twitter message

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has praised Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino for his classy Twitter gesture.

The teenage talent replied to a mother of a bullied fan by offering to send the young boy a pair of signed boots after her message went viral.

Twitter user @Jolilfred posted: "No worse feeling as a parent than when your kid is being bullied. he’s so sad I really don’t know how to cheer him up. Relentless digs about his height, getting pushed about by lads double his size. So unfair Pleading face here is him happy I want this smile back #Arsenal #StopBullying"

Patino then replied, saying: "It's really sad to read this Fran. Please tell Freddie that we're all supporting him, and I’m going to send him a signed pair of boots.

"Us Gooners are a family and we'll get him smiling again."

Ferdinand then replied to the Hale End academy graduate by saying: "Love this. Young men in the game positively impacting others."

It is not the first time that Ferdinand has hailed Patino either, with the former England international lauding the youngster's talents last month.

"Go on YouTube and watch his clips. It’s a joke what you see, the talent he’s got," he said on BT Sport ahead of Arsenal's 2-1 loss at home to Manchester City.

"I’ve spoken to people at Arsenal and what they say about him in terms of this kid, talent-wise, could potentially be the best of the lot that’s come out in recent years.

"It’s a huge bar, but this kid has the talent and the big, big part of him is his mentality.

"When you talk to anybody who knows him, mentally, he doesn’t get carried away, doesn’t get too low, doesn’t get too high, very balanced kid, but has all the fundamentals in his game to really go to the top of the tree.

"This kid is the next. I just feel, when you watch him, there’s a beautiful way he plays, the balance, the rhythm, the fans will enjoy watching him."
