Ring doorbell captured woman's foul mouthed rant and abuse to sister in law

A mum-of-three branded her sister-in-law a “f*nny” during a foul-mouthed tirade via a Ring doorbell after hearing the woman had reported her to social services.

Sarah Janion, 37, of The Glen, Runcorn, arrived in a boozed-up fury at the home address of Stacey Janion at about 10.45pm on August 31 this year after sending the woman a series of messages. Jayne Morris, prosecuting at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, said the texts said Stacey had “better answer her telephone”.

Janion appeared at the house soon after. She was angry after being “told that Stacey Janion had reported her to social services”.

Upon arriving at the property, Janion started to “continuously” knock on the door and press the doorbell. Ms Morris said Janion shouted: “Get out here now, get the f*** out here and be a god-damn woman, open the door and don’t be a f*nny.”

Stacey heard Janion try to open the back gate before she returned to the front and tried to pull the Ring doorbell off the house. Janion stood on the doorstep “continuously knocking and shouting for 15 minutes” before the police arrived.

The tirade of abuse towards Stacey - who is the sister of Janion’s ex-husband - continued. In police interview she provided a prepared statement in which she denied using threatening or abusive behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She later pleaded guilty to the charge on October 5.

At the time of the incident Janion was serving an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, imposed in December last year for Section 20 assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) after throwing a vase at another man David Bennett, her then-partner, a few months earlier in August 2021, causing a two-inch cut.

Janion was convicted in January of criminal damage for “attacking” Mr Bennett’s ex-partner’s car with a “cutlery fork” and scratching it in July last year - on the same Runcorn street where she turned up on August 31.

Jo Maxwell, defending, pleaded mitigation for Janion’s guilty plea, and said Janion has completed the Rise and Freedom alcohol programmes in addition to having self-referred to an anger management course.

Ms Maxwell said Janion was “very sorry” for her actions and there has been no repeat since.

She said the incident “occurred at a very low period in her life” and when in Janion’s words she “allowed her emotions to get the better of her”, but that she is now looking after her mental health better. Contact with her children has also started to increase.

The probation service recommended against a curfew being imposed due to Janion’s personal circumstances.

Recorder Paul Taylor imposed a conditional discharge on Janion for six months for the threatening behaviour and fined her £50 for breaching her suspended sentence. He also ordered a £26 surcharge and a two-year restraining order.

Recorder Taylor warned Janion: “If you do commit an offence you will be in breach and brought back to crown court - it’s now a crown court discharge - and all the good progress you’ve made may go down the toilet if you breach the order.

“You’re doing really well at the moment.

“I don’t want to do anything that gets in the way of that.”
