Rina Sawayama addresses UK Eurovision song rumours

Rina Sawayama has hinted she may be representing the United Kingdom on Eurovision.

Rumours have been circulating for weeks that the pop-rock princess is heading to Liverpool in May. After fans noticed a suspiciously large gap in her touring schedule around the same time as Eurovision promotions and the contest, it fed into their hypothesis.

Rina has picked up traction over the last few years as one of the UK's top newcomers with multiple television appearances across the world and sold-out shows. Her talent and aesthetic have been branded by fans as "perfect for Eurovision."

She recently took to TikTok to duet with a fan. Throughout the video, she can be seen agreeing with everything @eurovanya points out regarding why she is the most likely choice for the contest.

He said: "Rina is currently on tour promoting her new album, Hold The Girl. Many fans have noticed there's a severe gap between February and June in her schedule. March through May is really important for Eurovision because that's when promotion, media coverage and rehearsals happen.

"Luke Baldwin, one of the Directive Board members for Eurovision 2023 has followed her on Instagram. There's been lots of buzz in the euro-fandom about it."

He added: "Many fans speculate that the song Frankenstein, which was on the recent Rina album, which was released after the September 1st deadline and close to the Eurovision thee minute track length requirement can be submitted to Eurovision."

This is the first time Rina has directly addressed the rumours, doing so by pointing her finger approvingly and nodding her head in agreement. The BBC is yet to give any indication as to when the act will be announced but fans are convinced the job could already be hers.
