Rihanna 'to release surprise album this year' as she prepares to become a first-time mum

Rihanna is set to release a brand new surprise album while she prepares to welcome her first child to the world.

It would be the 33-year-old singer's first new album since her award-winning Anti in 2016 and is sure to delight her fans.

The pregnant star is said to be dedicating the new tunes to her loyal fans and a source told The Sun: "It's happening. Rihanna will drop an album this year. She is getting ready to release this year.

"It is always something she had planned to do for her fans. She has heard their calls for her new tunes, and knows they have been waiting so patiently.

"She's excited to bring them something new."

However, it's thought any new music will be her last for the foreseeable as she prepares to focus on motherhood and her beauty and fashion empire, which the source calls "her passion".

Earlier this week, the Barbados-born beauty had revealed her music career wasn't over despite some fans suggesting so.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said "Yes, you're still going to get music for me.

"My fans would kill me if they waited this long for a Lullaby."

Her 2016 album Anti, which featured Drake, was one of her most successful albums to date, but any new releases would be sure to rival it.

She's recently admitted she is loving feeling "a little chubby" as she continues to proudly show off her baby bump.

The songstress gushed that she's thoroughly enjoying her pregnancy and said: "I like it, I'm enjoying it."

"I'm enjoying not having to worry about covering up my tummy."

"If I feel a little chubby, it's like whatever - it's a baby!"

She had previously described how it was getting "harder" to keep her pregnancy a secret and was more difficult keeping it from her friends than it was the public.

Following the baby announcement, rumours quickly began to circulate that the pop princess and rapper beau A$AP Rocky are considering saying "I do" with a traditional celebration in her home country.

Speaking to E!, she said: "It was harder for me to keep it from my posse because they're around me, they know my habits.

"They're like, 'You don't want something to drink? You're not smoking?' And I'm eating all the things I'm not used to eating. They know I hate sweets and I'm all of a sudden asking for cookies and doughnuts."
