In the ever-changing world of beauty, Rihanna continues to show her staying power. As if being at the helm of the global Fenty empire wasn't enough, luxury fashion house Dior has tapped the superstar to be the new face of its classic J'Adore women's fragrance. "The scent, that I have known and loved for so long, means so much to women," she said in a statement. "I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity."
As the market-leading aroma turns 25 years old, Rihanna's new gig seems completely natural. She's worked with the company on a sunglasses collection in 2016 and her reputation speaks for itself. The mogul has always been one to blaze her own path and leave her own imprint when working with others. Fenty Beauty, which is housed under LVMH, became one of the first black-owned beauty brands to cater to more than 40 skin tones with its vast foundation offering. Meanwhile, Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation supports and funds education and climate change programs worldwide.
Historically, Dior has selected influential and inspiring women to represent its trademark fragrance, including Charlize Theron. "The choice of Rihanna to be the next face of J'Adore was obvious for us," proclaimed the brand's Chief Executive Officer Véronique Courtois. "Not only is she one of the greatest and most powerful artists of all time, she is also multitalented, a successful entrepreneur, a committed humanitarian, a mother of two, and a singular beauty."
The campaign featuring J'Adore's newest "queen" photographed by Steven Klein will drop September 1. "It brings together everything you would expect from a Dior story: thrill, desire, sense of spectacular and extraordinary, but also some unexpected twists," boasted Courtois. In the meantime, be sure to shop the legendary scent at online destinations like the designer's website, Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Nordstrom.
