Rihanna reveals she didn't know she was pregnant during Vogue shoot

Rihanna has revealed she had “no clue” she was pregnant with her second child during a photoshoot for the British Vogue cover.

The global superstar, 34, features on the cover of the latest issue, with her partner A$AP Rocky and their son.

Rihanna has since revealed in a social media post that she “had no clue” she was pregnant with her second child during the photo shoot, back in December.

The Barbadian artist wrote on Instagram: “How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no clue.”

Rihanna added that her nine-month old son, in his first official photoshoot, is “so fine”, and thanked British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Eninful for “celebrating us as a family”.

The singer, along with partner A$AP, 34, and son, shot for British Vogue on Malibu Beach.

Rihanna said of her relationship with rapper A$AP, that they are “best friends with a baby”, and described the experience of becoming parents to have brought them “closer”.

“We’re best friends with a baby… We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship,” Rihanna told the publication.

“Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”

The Only Girl (In The World) singer debuted her baby bump at the beginning of her Super Bowl performance on Sunday, as she rubbed her hand over her stomach to announce her second pregnancy nine months after the birth of her first child.

Rihanna’s confessed pregnancy surprise comes as her back-up dancers have shared they weren’t aware the singer was pregnant right up until performance time of Sunday’s show.

Dancer Laila Hayes told ET. “I don’t think anybody really knew she was pregnant. She hid it very well.

“[Rihanna] was rehearsing onstage, they made sure that they had her safe in the middle of the stage and then the group that I was in would stay on the sidelines.”

Hayes continued: “We were all confused watching it during the real thing when she went up there and was showing her stomach. She wore the same outfit for one of the dress rehearsals but it was zippered up.”

During her Super Bowl performance, the pop megastar treated fans to a selection of hits from her catalogue, including Bitch Better Have My Money, We Found Love and Umbrella, while commanding the stage in the bold red jumpsuit.

Rihanna, who released her last album Anti in 2016, also spoke about the creation of highly-anticipated new music, telling British Vogue: “There’s this pressure that I put on myself. That if it’s not better than that (Anti) then it is not even worth it.”

She added: “So I realised that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it’s going to keep taking forever and maybe it’ll never come out and no, I’m not down to that.

“So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet.”

She went on to suggest that her fans may not have to wait too much longer, adding: “I want it to be this year… Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year.”
