Ridvan Yilmaz situation at Rangers 'monitored' by Galatasaray as exit route emerges after Ibrox false start

Turkish giants Galatasaray have added forgotten Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz to a wishlist of January recruits, according to reports.

The 21-year-old made a bumper £5.5m move from Besiktas in the summer but has struggled to make any impact at Ibrox following the deal, as he struggles to dislodge Gio van Bronckhorst 's first-choice left-back Borna Barisic. The Turkish international has made just four appearances since his move, coming off the bench in the 4-0 rout of St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday for a 10-minute cameo. His most recent start came in the Premier Sports Cup win over Queen of the South on August 30.

The lack of regular minutes appears to have caught the attention in Turkey with several reports suggesting Galatasaray are "monitoring" the player's fortunes in the Scottish Premiership. Boss Okan Buruk is reportedly an admirer of the defender with full-back being a problem for the Super Lig title hopefuls.

Takvim report that the club do not think Yilmaz would agree to leave Rangers on a permanent deal, with player keen to fight for his place in the starting line-up. However, they believe that could change in January if his lack of game time continues.

They are reportedly weighing up a loan approach for the player. They would look to take Yilmaz on a deal until the end of the campaign to allow him regular minutes.
