Besiktas have revealed the transfer chase for in-demand left back Ridvan Yilmaz is heating up after Rangers were linked with a move for the Turkish international.
Rangers have replaced Ajax-bound Calvin Bassey with Liverpool defender Ben Davies, but still need another option at left back and reports state Yilmaz is on their radar. The 21-year-old seemed set to complete a £4million transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt last week, but the move stalled and appears to be on the brink of collapse because the Germans wanted to complete the deal using staggered payments with the Istanbul side demanding the full payment immediately.
And Rangers could gain a measure of revenge on their Europa League Final conquerors by moving to the front of the queue to bag Yilmaz, although Besiktas vice-president Emre Kocadag has revealed there are plenty of clubs in the hunt for his player, with Torino also credited with an interest.
He said: "We have reached a certain stage at the transfer point related to Rıdvan. He is a player on the radar of many teams and a lot of offers have come so far. If there is a transfer offer that meets our expectations and Rıdvan wants it, we will consider it again."
And Besiktas sporting director, Ceyhun Kazanci, insists the player understands the club's transfer policy on him. He said: "Eintracht halted the proposal to sign Ridvan for now and it is an ongoing process. They may yet return. Ridvan is a son of the academy here. He knows the club and he has no problem with the situation.
"He shares the same views as us - earning money for Besiktas is also his goal too. If there is an offer we can work with, we will do our best for him. Everyone has a career path."
