Ricky Gervais praises ‘best fans’ as widely panned cartoon hits top Netflix spot

  • The Independent 's Louis Chilton gave the series one star, questioning Gervais's ability to produce quality work comparable to his earlier successes.
  • Gervais, 65, expressed his happiness on Instagram, saying that he had "never been so happy" and praising his "best fans in the f***ing world".
  • He later addressed the criticism on X and in an interview, dismissing audience outrage as "inevitable and a bit boring now", reminding viewers it's "just a cartoon".
