Ricky Gervais on what he thinks about Will Smith Oscars attack

With Ricky Gervais missing as the Oscars host this year, Chris Rock took to the stage. However, it didn't turn out well for him after he was slapped by another actor.

Will Smith confronted Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith being bald because of alopecia. Before the King Richard actor walked up to him and hit him, Rock had said: "Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2".

Former Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais has already spoken out about if he was hosting the show but now he seems to be weighing in his thoughts about the attack. Despite not saying anything, the actor has been liking tweets of people's thoughts on Twitter, reports BirminghamMail.

Gervais liked a tweet by actor Rob Reiner saying: "Will Smith owes Chris Rock a huge apology. There is no excuse for what he did. He’s lucky Chris is not filing assault charges. The excuses he made tonight were bulls**t"

He also liked a tweet saying: "After all the initial joking I hope Will Smith has to return his Oscar. His behaviour was unacceptable. He's a bully and deserves to be punished."

However he also liked a tweet saying: "A lot of actors don’t understand comedy or irony or words". Gervais has yet to publicly make a statement about the attack.

It comes as the LAPD has said Chris Rock has declined to file a police report against Will Smith. A full statement from the Los Angeles Police Department read: "LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program."

"The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
